It's a long haul. Parts of rural India which were supposed to get better connectivity with urban India as part of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have a long wait ahead of them. Some 3.7 lakh km of roads were supposed to connect these areas. But the Rs 132000 crore project launched in 2000 and meant to be completed by 2007 is not even half complete.
