Pushed by popular consternation over possible adverse impact of urbanisation on the environment and ecology of the Sat Tal and the Bhim Tal lakes in Nainital, the Uttaranchal Government has ordred stopping of construction work in June Estate, a massive green-belt area in the lakes'vicinity. The State Government has also ordered an inquiry into circumstances leading to changing the land-use pattern of the Estate,notified as a green-belt in the Bhim Tal town's master-plan prepared by the Town and Country Planning Department.
