The works for the constructions of bridges, railway over bridges and under bridges by Public Works Department (PWD) in order to reduce traffic congestion are in progress in the state. The Department is presently executing 14 railway over bridges and 8 under bridges to the tune of Rs 268.21 crore. An amount of Rs 98 crore has been spent till February this fiscal year. A sum of Rs 20 crore has been allotted for the fiscal year 2011-12. Among the 14 railway over bridges and eight under bridges, railway over bridge at Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) railway crossing, railway over bridge at Banganga Indore, railway over bridge at Rajendra Nagar near Indore, railway over bridge at Bhandari, railway over bridge at Rau-Pithampur road. Similarly, over bridge at Sehore and Budhni, over bridge at Salamatpur and Mandideep are being built . Works for the over bridges at Maihar in Satna district, Katni, Jabalpur, Guna and Ujjain are in progress. An over bridge from Kali Parade to Ayodhya Nagar bypass and two other under bridges are being constructed. Constructions of under bridges at Betul, Satna, Kareli town in Narsinghpur district, Ashok Nagar, Morena are being done with priorities. Completion of works will reduce traffic congestion in these cities and towns.
