A local committee has opposed the proposed multi-crore Tipaimukh dam on Bara river at the trijunction of Manipur, Mizoram and Assam in Manipur's Churachandpur district. The dam would not only displace over 40,000 people but also submerge a huge area of cultivable land and various important historical sites, said a spokesman of the Committee Against Tipaimukh (CATD).
