Copyrights Act to be changed to protect tribal artists

The Union minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Mr Arun Jaitley, has recommended amendments in the Copyrights Act to protect the interests of traditional and tribal artists of India. Inaugurating a workshop on "Rights of Tribals and Traditional Artists", organised by the Social Action Forum for Manav Adhikar, at New Delhi today, Mr Jaitley said there was a large section of artisans in the non-urban who specialised in arts and had been exploited.
