Corning unveils new catalytic converter

Corning Inc. introduced a new product one early this week that it says will enable automobile manufacturers to reduce emissions by as much as 70 percent over current national standards. The company's new 900/2 catalytic converter substrate is designed to be used at the core of catalytic converters and allow automobile manufacturers to meet the nation's Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (Super ULEV) standards, which take effect in the year 2004 in UK. According to the company, the substrate will help automobile manufacturers to meet the tough new standards without having to increase the size of the present catalytic converters.
