Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday called upon the corporate sector to perform its social responsibility in other sectors such as education, social service, power and development by working together with the people and the government. Addressing a session on public-private partnership at a national convention on "Corporate social responsibility' in New Delhi, Ms. Raje said the corporate sector's collaboration with other stakeholders would bring prosperity to it and help evolve its positive role in the progress of the nation. The convention was organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the National Foundation for Corporate Governance and the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs. According to an official release here, Ms. Raje said the entrepreneurs setting up new units in the backward areas should try to develop the region by inculcating a "positive mind-set' among their employees. "The State Government will provide all facilities to entrepreneurs and investors taking up the works of public interest,' she added. The Chief Minister pointed out that a large number of public welfare activities had been taken up in Rajasthan with the collaboration of corporate sector, non-government organisations and philanthropic groups. "The sectors such as education, drinking water, power, medical and health, tourism, security, transport, etc., have an immense potential for growth with the association of corporate sector,' she said. The Chief Minister said while the Rajasthan Community and Business Alliance on Water had signed 18 agreements for supplying drinking water to remote villages, the provision of mid-day meals for students had been made on an enormous scale with the association of Nandi Foundation and other bodies. "Morarka Foundation and Cairn are assisting the government authorities in improving the drinking water arrangements in Churu and Barmer, respectively, and Hindustan Zinc is managing 100 Anganwadi centres in Chittaurgarh district,' said Ms. Raje. Among others, State Principal Industries Secretary Ashok Sampatram, Bureau of Industrial Promotion Commissioner Umesh Kumar and RSIDIC Managing Director Kuldeep Ranka attended the convention.
