Corporates give Rs100-cr boost to watershed management in State

Besides administrative machinery, the corporate sector is also playing an important role in the implementation of the Integrated Watershed Area Management Programme in Madhya Pradesh. Works to the tune of about Rs100 crore are being made by various institutions in watershed areas under various projects of corporate social responsibility. Corporate institutions have been selected under public-private partnership and given responsibility of projects of various watershed area management projects.
Works to the tune of Rs107.55 crore are being undertaken by 10 prominent corporate sector institutions in the State. These works will benefit 89,625 hectare area in 190 villages. These corporate sector institutions include Ramky Foundation of Mahindra and Mahindra, Vikram Public Service Trust, ITC Limited, International Traceability System Limited, Hindustan Unilever Private Limited, Orient Paper Mill, DB Power and Nature Bio Food.
Besides 10 per cent financial cooperation, these institutions are also bearing administrative expenses of concerning projects. Besides cooperating in technical and administrative management of the projects, these institutions are also extending contribution in special technical training, livelihood activities of self-help groups, agriculture, health, education and social upliftment. They are also cooperating in making senior technical consultants available for agriculture area development, dissemination of technical know-how, technical guidance to Gram Panchayats and self-help groups for planting saplings and promotion of greenery, forestry and organic farming.
Corporate sector Ramky Foundation is participating in watershed area management in Nateran development block in Vidisha district and Sagar development block in Sagar district, ITC Limited in Khachrod development block in Ujjain district, Sitamau in Mandsaur district and Mhow development block of Indore district and International Traceability System Limited in Badwara development block of Katni district.
Similarly, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited is participating in two watershed area management projects in Damoh development block in Damoh district, Ramkrishna Agro Processing Private Limited in Babai Cheechli development block in Narsinghpur district, Vikram Public Service Trust in Jawad development block of Neemuch district, DB Power Limited in Devsar development block in Singrauli district and many more.
