Court fines fertiliser companies

In two cases of violation of the Seed Act, the Chief Judicial Magistrate has imposed fine on several firms. In the first case, the court has slapped a fine of Rs 500 each on Rakesh Kumar, a trader from Dabwali, Singla Seeds, a supplier from Malout and Shri Ram Fertilisers and Chemicals, a Karnal-based company. Dr Wazir Singh, Deputy Director (Agriculture), Sirsa, said in the second case the court has imposed a fine on Dharampal and Ravi Kumar from a Sirsa-based firm and Rajesh Kumar, a representative of a seed company, of Rs 500 each. He said the persons fined would have to serve a term of one week each in case they failed to pay the fine.
