The Madras High Court has ordered notice to the Union and State departments of Environment and Forests, as well as the National Highways Authority, on a public interest litigation petition seeking planting of saplings in the place of trees that had been felled, during widening of the National Highway-46 from Palikonda in Vellore district to Krishnagirir in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu.
