Jamshedpur, March 22: The steel city with the paradox of plenty and parched celebrated World Water Day today.
Statistics reveal that compared to the ideal water consumption of 50-160 litres per person per day, an average steel city resident consumes 220 litres.
At the same time, major rivers and reservoirs in and around the city are drying up, with residents in peripheral areas reeling under a severe water crunch. As a result, corporate bodies such as Jusco have swung into action to make residents aware on the necessity of conserving water on this special day.
World Water Day came into being in 1992 at the United Nations conference on environment and development in Rio de Janeiro. This year
