Claiming a breakthrough in genetic engineering, scientists at the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSWRI) have produced several embryos from a single garole sheep, an endangered species of West Bengal to be used in the local Malpura-breed in Jaipur. Produced through a "multiple ovulation technique", as many as 24 embryos have been transferred successfully into the recipient sheep of local Malpura breed and the off-springs are expected to be born in March next year, veterinary scientists Dr JP Mittal and Dr SM K Naqvi said.
