The Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC), claimed that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe (Sri Lanka) had pledged to scrap the controversial Upper Kotmale Hydro Power Project (UKHP), if the CWC could convince the Japanese government that the project is harmful to the country. CWC made the claim during a media conference in Colombo , following its unsuccessful protest in Nuwara Eliya.
