Cycling days are backs, says Pardeshi

The Pune Municipal Corporation is claiming that the number of civic officials and other working staff following the "no vehicle day' activity is growing every week. In a statement by the PMC, Municipal Commisisoner Praveensinh Pardeshi welcomed the rising number of participants. He said, "Pune was once a city of bicycles. PMC has taken up the work of construction of cycle tracks, which will help mitigate the traffic woes of the city. It is good to see a lot of other private organisations participating in PMC's initiative.' Opposition leader Vikas Mathkari said that in order to make more and more people turn towards cycling, the PMC is working towards providing the necessary facilities. This week, over 440 officials used cycle, while almost the same number of staff used the public transport buses to commute.
