The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has threatened to stop providing grants to the Assam State Zoo because of the failure of the State Government to provide the necessary matching grants. According to sources, the CZA has so far sanctioned Rs 28 lakh to the State Zoo for the upgradation but the purpose of providing the grant has been defeated as the government has failed to provide the matching grants.
