DC convenes meeting of Flood Control

KATHUA : A seven member committee was constituted by District Development Commissioner Kathua, Sarita Chauhan today to sort out the problem arising due to flooding of National Highway from Kalibari to Kathua town due to unpredictably heavy rainfall on the intervening night of June 7 and 8. The heavy downpour resulted in water entering the houses of people and water logging on the National Highway. An emergency meeting of National Highway (NH) Authorities and Flood Control engineers was called by the DDC Kathua. She asked the NH Authorities to make a temporary arrangement for diverting the extra water from the Highway till a permanent solution is worked out. She asked the engineers to give priority to Kalibari area and clearance of approach roads so that the people are not subjected to any inconvenience.
