UDHAMPUR, Sep 18: The District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ajay Khajuria has called upon the Doctors, Para-medical staff and NGOs related with National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to put in their coordinated and sincere efforts in providing best health care facilities to patients especially in rural and remote pockets of the district who deserve prior attention due to lack of awareness and institutional facilities.
The DC was addressing a meeting of officers of Health and Line Departments and representatives of NGOs held by the District Health Society to review the achievements registered under NRHM in the district, check loopholes and devise measures for bringing more efficiency in getting optimum results under the programme in the district, here on Thursday.
Khajuria urged the officers to conduct atleast five Eye camps at different locations of the district by the end of this calendar year so that benefits percolate to the people at grass root level.
Responding to the problems and suggestions of Block Medical Officers like shortage of doctors in rural and far-flung areas and sanction of attractive 'Rural Duty Allowance' for Doctors, the DDC said that he would certainly take up the issue with the government so that doctors could readily agree to work in such locations on permanent basis to provide better health care facilities to patients.
Regarding making payments in case of unknown accidental case for shifting patients who meet accidents on roads etc., the Health department would arrange necessary expenditure on this account. However, District Red Cross Society would also manage payments of this nature, the meeting decided.
For completion of works in Blocks under NRHM especially in inaccessible areas and issuance of utilization certificate in time, the meeting decided to take the services of Junior Engineers of Rural Development Department instead of PWD as the reach of RDD engineers is spread over all rural locations of the district.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Officer, while giving resume of activities under NRHM in the district, apprised that all the proposed 24 Rogi Kalyan Samities, 372 Village Health and Sanitation Committees have been constituted in the district besides, appointment of 488 ASHAs to boost the programme.
