The dream project mooted by the Delhi Development Authority to develop the 25 kilometre-long riverbed of river Yamuna stretching from Wazirabad to Okhla in the city on the lines of river Thames in London has come under scanner of the Supreme Court. A bench comprising of Justice H.K. Sema and Justice A.R. Lakshamanan issued notices to the Centre, the Delhi Development Authority and others on a petition challenging the decision of the Delhi high court which had gave a green signal to the project. Senior counsel N.N. Goswami and advocate Praveen Chauhan, appearing for the petitioner, said that the project to develop the riverbed was in contravention of the provisions of the Northern India Canal & Drainage and River Boards Act.
