Deforestation may ruin Nepal's future

The jlush forests of Nepal, sheltering some of the world's rarest animals, are vanishing at a rate of 200 hectares a day, precipitating serious ecological and climatic change, conservation officials say. The severe depletion has forced the government to use the Royal nepal Army to guard national parks with "shoot on sight" orders to counter a seemingly insatiable illicit logging demand for fuel and unauthorised settlement.
