In a bid to strengthen the Capital's infrastructure so that it can fare well during the 2010 Commonwealth games, the Delhi government set afoot three infrastructure projects, including the construction of a new bridge at Wazirabad to ease traffic and movement of pedestrians. Stressing the need to ease the movement of pedestrians, Delhi urban development and PWD minister AK Walia said, "This new project will broaden roads to help pedestrians walk without any inconvenience. No matter how many fly-overs we build, it would not prove to be fruitful without having pedestrians happy and comfortable. Moreover, the escalator and the foot bridge would prove to be an added advantage.'
