Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday said the city government is fully equipped to meet any challenge of flood. She said the flood control order 2008 has been issued and the central flood control room has also become operational. The chief minister charred a meeting of the top committee for flood control 2008 on Friday. Divisional commissioner Nutan Guha Biswas will function as the convenor secretary of the committee, which will meet by the last week of June. "A round-the-clock central flood control room has started functioning. The functions of the control room include receiving flood warnings and other related information, submit flood situation report, apart from issuing flood warnings and direction of evacuation. It will also liaison with the upper Yamuna division of the Central Water Commission, Army and Navy. It will also maintain a fleet of vehicles needed for relief measures," said the chief minister. Ms Dikshit issued instructions for immediate repair of damaged roads and lifting of collected silt near drains. She called for the early completion of desilting exercise and deployment of health personnel. She added that a separate control room of irrigation and flood control department at Kashmere Gate has also become operational, which will remain in touch with wireless stations.
