The Delhi governemnt has decided to buy 200 new water tankers to meet the water crisis this summer. Currently, the Delhi Jal Board has 510 water tankers of various capacities, which are servicing the city. The target for this summer, however, is 1,200 tankers.Delhi Urban development and Helath Minister A K Walia yesterday said that for the time being the governemnt plans to cover the deficit of 500 odd tankers by hiring private tankers. Owners of such tankers will now be paid Rs 150 instead of Rs 100 for every trip.
