To curb haphazard pasting of posters and defacement of walls in view of the Commonwealth Games to be held in the national capital in 2010, the Delhi government has come up with a unique idea. It has initiated action for installation of uniform permanent notice boards to display proper noncommercial information on roads in a regulated manner. This decision was taken at a high-level meeting presided over by Delhi urban development and PWD minister Dr A.K. Walia. Expressing his concern over pasting of posters on walls in most localities, Dr Walia stressed on the need to bring a new defacement bill, replacing the existing act.
