Delhi still makes light of trees

Officially speaking, tapping electricity directly from supply-lines and using generators to light up trees is prohibited. Officially speaking, pasting posters and screwing hoardings onto trees dotting Delhi might offer a green ray of hope to the Capital, but negligence has put them in the red. 'Delhi damages trees in more ways than one -right from constructing pavements which hamper trees from spreading their roots to nailing advertisements and sign-boars on trees' says Centre for Science and Environment director Sunita Narayan, 'but worse still is putting up lights on trees, specially during the wedding season.
