Delhi may be one of the greenest cities in the country, says the annual report of the Forest Survey of India. The report, which will be released in October, puts the forest cover in the city in 2001 at a record 111 sq km. Delhi has a total area of 1,483 sq km. Although the 1999 figures show Delhi having 88 sq km of forest, most of the growth happened between 1995 and 1999. Between 1995 and 1997, the forest cover was just 26 sq km. By 1999, it increased to 88 sq km.
