The Constituency Delimitation Commission was still awaiting the promised 2001 Census data from the Registrar General of India to proceed with its own work of delimitation of constituencies. The Commission Chairman Justice Kuldeep Singh told a Press conference on the conclusion of his interaction with the associate members of the commission that it had been promised that the commission would start getting the finalized data of the 2002 Census in a phase manner starting from July 15. "But we are yet to get the data", he said adding that somebody should ask the concerned authorities why it was getting delayed. He clearly indicated that delimitation was unlikely to take place before the next elections.
