With the Supreme Court deadline for sealing unauthorised shops and showrooms in residential premises fast approaching, the MCD's legislative wing is all set to clear the resolutions passed by the civic body's standing committee on March 13 at the behest of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ram Babu Sharma. According to the two resolutions moved by the standing committee, the MCD has primarily asked for abeyance of sections 343, 344, 345 (A) and section 347 of the Delhi Municipal Act (DMC) and to exempt small shops like grocery stores, barber shops, chemists, ATMs and coaching centres till Masterplan 2021 is implemented in the city. A third resolution was also passed on the SC order on eviction of hawkers and encroachers.
