Destruction of forest for jhum cultivation in CHT affects ecosystem

As tribal Miro Jhumia families were tearing down the hill forest to bring more land under jhum cultivation, a tense situation has been prevailing among the local forest officials and the families, reports UNB. This year some 16, 672 acres of land has been targeted to bring under Jhum cultivation in this hill district of Banderban (Bangladesh)
