Thirteen separate fires occured in a single day in Nagarhole in March. According to rough estimates, not yet substantiated by satellite imagery, around eight per cent of the park has been affected by the fires that spread during the months of February, March and April, with the Metekuppe and Dodabytenakuppe ranges suffering extensive damage. Each of the seven ranges that include Nagarhole, Kalhalla, Veeranahosahalli, Anechoukkur and Antharasanthe, meausres roughtly 80 to 100 sq km.
