Mr S N Padhi, Director-General , MInes Safety, today suggested amendments to the Mines Act, 1901. Inaugurating a two-day workshop on mines safety at Surajkund, Mr Padhi said the amendments should incorporate rules and regulations for surface mining which were missing in the present law. The amendments would go a long way in reducing accidents and increasing production.
