Bokaro, Jan. 18: The fear of diarrhoea has gripped Porabad in Silphor village under Babudih panchayat of Chadankyari block. Fourteen people, including three children and eight women of the village, had to be rushed to a private nursing home today suffering from diarrhoea and nausea. Villagers suspect that they might have contracted diarrhoea due to intake of contaminated water. Bokaro medical officer in charge N.P. Singh and a medical team rushed to the spot and administered saline drip to the ailing. However, Singh stated that the sick were not suffering from diarrhoea, but fell ill due to extreme cold. He clarified that the sick were out of danger and the medical team was doing its best. The patients have been identified as Vijay Tewary, Pratima Devi, Kumar Amit, Puja Kumari, Priya Kumari, Kumar Shubham, Basant Tewary, Savita Devi, Pawan Kumar, Reena Kumari, Arti, Khusur Kumari and Gudia Devi, of whom Vijay, Pratima and Kumar Amit had to be admitted to nursing home. Sources said that the victims woke up in the morning with a severe stomach ache. They also complained of repeated loose motion and vomiting last night, hinting diarrhoea. Several people then called upon Bokaro deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal, who summoned N.P. Singh, as the civil surgeon Dr Mithilesh Kumar is out of station. Top
