Diarrhoea Control Fortnight launched in Dibrugarh

Along with the rest of the parts of the State, the Diarrhoea Control Fortnight, 2017, was formally launched in the district on June 12. Under the scheme, ORS packets will be distributed to 1.30 lakh children under 5 years of age in every household of the district. Moreover, zinc tablets will be provided to diarrhoea-affected children. In every school of the district, the proper process of washing hands will be exhibited before the children. During the fortnight, importance and special awareness will be given on sanitation, cleanliness and drinking water.
As a part of the scheme, an awareness procession was taken out which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri, who in her deliberation sought the cooperation of the people to make the scheme a success. The procession was attended by more than 100 workers of the health department.
Later, the inaugural function was organized at the NHM conference hall. The Joint Director of Dibrugarh Health Department, Dr. Udayan Kumar Baruah, by lighting the traditional lamp, officially inaugurated the function at the NHM conference Hall. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Baruah emphasized successful implementation of the scheme by enveloping all areas of the district.
The ceremony was attended by Executive Engineer of PHE department, Bhaskar Sarmah, the District Scheme Officer of Sarva Shiksha Mission, Tridip Tamuli and Dr. Prasshanta Kumar Goswami, Dr. Nabajyoti Gogoi and Manisha Buragohain who represented the Health Department. During the meeting, ORS Packets were distributed to many children and water bottles were given away to Asha workers.
