Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh expressed serious concern on Friday about social activist Medha patkar's health, particularly her threat of resorting to "jalsamadhi" in support of her Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA). Talking to reporters at New Delhi , he said efforts would be made to dissuade Ms Patkar from taking this extreme measure, adding that he had been trying to get in touch with her over the past several days, but since she was in the valley, he had not been able to talk to her so far. "We will ensure that she doesn't take this extreme step. Her life is precious to us," Mr Singh said, adding that he knew Ms Patkar and had spoken to her several times and was concerned about her health.
