Emphasising the pivotal role of women and children in making Delhi a green and clean city, the Delhi Chief minister, Ms Sheila Dikshit, called upon women of Delhi to adopt trees in their neighbourhood and ensure their unkeep and maintenance. She asked when women could bring up their while family, why can't they bring up trees? She was speaking at the inauguration of ' Van Mahotsav 2002, organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi at the 'Main Park, Chirag Delhi.
