Taking a serious note of the chopping down of about 300 trees, including some heritage trees in the Capital's protected Ridge area, the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, is understood to have written to the area commander protesting against the Army action. The State Forest and Environment Department has issued a notice to the Army authorities for not following proper procedure and blatantly violating the Delhi Tree Preservation Act.
