Jamshedpur, Sept. 4: The list of the displaced under the Subernarekha Multipurpose Project (SMP) is all set to swell with the state government deciding to initiate fresh survey for identifying the beneficiaries who had been left out after the earlier process. At present, around 14,000 people have found a place in the development books that were prepared by the water resources department. After the first survey done in 1985, only 10,000 people were included in the development books. However, protest from villagers forced the government to initiate new surveys in the region. This year, the government released Rs 102 crore that would be distributed as compensation among the displaced villagers. The SMP rehabilitation officials in Chandil and Icha project would be provided Rs 51 crore each. Officials in the SMP here informed that they would soon start camps in the affected villages for identifying the new beneficiaries.
