Amidst reports of the neighbouring state cutting water supply to Delhi, Haryana claimed Sunday that it was releasing double of its legitimate share of water to the national capital.
Stating this here, chief engineer of Yamuna Water Services, Haryana irrigation department in Delhi, Anand Kumar said Delhi’s legitimate share of water is 610 cusecs at Munak and 610 cusecs of water is being released for the Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant.
In addition to this, Mr Kumar said, more than 600 cusecs of water was being released from Munak for Chandrawal/Wazirabad Water Treatment Plants.
He also claimed that the water released for Chandrawal/ Wazirabad Water Treatment Plants this year was about 175 cusecs more than the release last year.
Mr Kumar also lamented that Delhi Jal Board has “stooped very low” by cutting the water supply to residential premises at 3-Sham Nath Marg, and 3-Under Hill Road in Civil Lines, Delhi, where more than 60 families of Haryana irrigation department officials reside.
He said it is strange water supply is available in the adjoining colonies as well as in the office of divisional commissioner and collector, but not at 3-Sham Nath Marg and 3 -Under Hill Road. Kumar said for better coordination with Delhi and for taking any corrective measure immediately, if required, Haryana has also constituted 3-4 teams which will be available at Haiderpur, Wazirabad and Chandrawal water treatment plants. Various areas in Delhi continued to reel under acute water shortage.
