The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is well versed in water conservation lessons. Around 350 litres of water is required for cleaning each train. However, keeping in mind the scarcity of potable water in the Capital, it recycles 200 litres of water to wash other trains as well. As of now, there are a total 23 trains. Of this, 16 run on a daily basis. For maintaning the international standards, these trains are washed on alternate days with minimal wastage of water. An automatic washing plant has been installed at the Shastri Park depot, where the trains take their daily bath at night. After taking due permission from the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) Authority to install a tube well, one has been installed in the premises from where it gets water for cleaning the trains.
