SENTINEL/GUWAHATI/04/05/2009 JORHAT, May 3: The Gibbon Sanctuary situated at Mariani area under Jorhat district has been plagued by a significant problem in case of population growth since last couple of years. According to the information, the problem arises due to the separation of the sanctuary by a train line which parted it into two parts. Though the forest department has taken up a project to connect the both side of the forest separated by the railway line, but the experiment is reportedly vain to sort out the problem. It may be mentioned here that the families of Holock Gibbon are refrained from inter-family marriages and they always used to marry another family
