The 160-km stretch in the upper part of the Ganga between Bijnor and Narora barrage in Uttar Pradesh is soon to be declared a dolphin sanctuary. According to World Wide Fund for Nature sources almost all the paper work in this regard was over and the new government at the Centre will only have to issue the notification.
