The District Primary Education Programme (DPEP), a World Bank project to educate the children up to primary level which was introduced in Assam in 1997 and which failed to achieve its target in various parts of the districts of Assam, has made a tremendous progress in Sonitpur district during the last one year despite the fact that out of five-and-half years have already elapsed.
