The president of the Australian Conservation Foundation, Mr Peter Garrett, has accused the Federal Government of siphoning off $12million earmarked for the environment to repair a dam on the Murray River.Mr Garrett, who was visiting the Murray's mouth in South Australia yesterday, said the river was in danger because of irrigation demands. He said the $12 million had been part of $1.25billion raised by the Government's partial sale of Telstra and was to have been spent on the environment through the Natural Heritage Trust.
