The sluggish turtle has stolen a march over the Indian defence establishment in protecting its traditional nesting grounds on Wheeler Island, off Gahirmatha coast in Orissa.With environmentalists on their side, the Olive Ridley turtles have succeeded in forcing the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to delay its plans to build an extension of its missile base at nearby Chandipur-on-sea.
