Drinking water and sanitary facilities to all schools by 2009: Rihan Daimary

Drinking water and sanitary facilities will be ensured to all schools as well as Aganwadi centres by 2009 in Asom. This was announced by the PHE Minister Rihan Daimary in a meeting organized by Udalguri district administration to mark the completion of two years by the present government in office. Udalguri is proposed to be developed into a full fledged district in another three years. The Union Government has accorded a sanction to establish a Bodoland Institute of Information Centre at Udalguri. This is slated to be the first centre of its kind in Asom. The Udalguri town road from Golmagaon to Mission Tiniali is to be converted into a four-lane road and a multi-storeyed market shed will also be constructed. All posts for the 100-bedded hospital have been sanctioned and another 3.50 crores have been allotted to upgrade it to a 200-bedded hospital. The road communication of the district is being rapidly developed and another 10 rural roads have been sanctioned under the PMGSY scheme, Daimary added. Daimary further expressed his gratitude to the people for their support towards the implementation of the various schemes. The meeting which was chaired by George Basumatary, deputy commissioner of Udalguri was also addressed by Karendra Basumatary, MLA Majbat, Kamali Rani Basumatary, MLA Panery, Mitharan Basumatary EM, BTC among the others.
