Drip Irrigation to preserve water

The Sri Lankan goverment has planned to utilize Drip Irrigation System to melt the present shortage of water in Sri Lanka for agricultural activities. A project for this purpose will be launched jointly by the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management and the Ministry of Agriculture. Arrangements have been made to popularise this system among the banana cultivations of Sooriyawewa and Embilipitiya area of the Hambantota District which is considered at present as the area in Sri Lanka with the driest climate.
