The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board's office in Chepauk was till recently buying water from Chennai Metrowater. For the last one week, the agency stopped doing it. The reason: the Board has become self-sufficient after installing a rainwater harvesting structure in its premises about 10 days ago. The result: a proposed cut in its monthly water bill by Rs. 20,000.
