Plans by the Urban Development Ministry and KTC to dump Sonsodo's dry waste at the KTC bus stand evoked strong criticism from the Goa Congress Mahila Congress chief Monica Dias. Taking note of a news item appearing in the Herald, Dias said she would never allow land filling of the acquired property at the KTC bus stand with the Sonsodo garbage. "There is no objection for the land filling with mud and soil, but waste would not be acceptable at the KTC bus stand', she asserted. Meanwhile, KTC Chairman and Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco said the decision to dump the Sonsodo waste for land filling at the KTC Bus stand was taken to make little space at the dumpyard to set up a treatment plant. "The people should understand the situation at the Sonsodo dumpyard. It's not that we just want to dump the waste at the land fill site, but the situation at Sonsodo is going from bad to worse with each passing day', he added.
