The countdown has begun for the Delhi Government to phase out all eight-year-old DTC buses or replace them with CNG engines to comply with the Supreme Court's directions. But judging from the pace of implementation, the Government looks all set to lose the race. Already a strong feeling is emerging in Government circles that it should approach the Apex Court to seek extension of the March 31,2000, deadline to replace diesel engines of DTC buses.
