Dust the way, in Ahmedabad

Sudden Climate Change And Dug-Up Roads Add To Residents' Woes After the onslaught of summer, which had just begun, the high velocity winds and cloudy weather since Tuesday should have been a relief. But the dust flying from the heaps of earth piled on the roads led to a dust storm-like effect. The wind velocity in Gujarat is around 32 kms per hour, says Mohan Singh Tomar, Director, Indian Metreological Department (IMD). "There is a continued western cyclonic circulation going over the state of Gujarat over past few days. This has caused high wind velocity.' Several parts of Saurashtra also saw rainfall on Wednesday even as it drizzled in Ahmedabad. "The moisture laden winds coming from oceans after getting in touch with trough moisture are resulting rainfall. The wind pattern and temperature variation combined effect has brought unseasonal rainfall here,' says Tomar. According to him, the system is now weakening, the winds are coming from north easterly direction and the temperature hovered around 35 degree Celsius. According to IMD, mainly dry weather is likely over the region under the combined influence of midtropospheric westerly trough and lower tropospheric cyclonic circulation, isolated to scattered light rain and thundershowers activity over parts of Gujarat, North West India, East Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
