Engineers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed an enviornmental monitoring system that can analyse contaminants on the spot. The system, called E-Smart, consists of sensors capable of measuring small amounts of contaminants, such as heavy metals, solvents, petroleum oil and lubricants, that are linked to data management software and hardware.
